Ingredients
  

  • 1.5 lbs ground beef
  • 0.5 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 0.25 cup milk
  • 0.5 tsp salt
  • 0.5 tsp black pepper
  • 2 medium onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tsp dried thyme

  1. Combine beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Form into patties and cook in a frying pan.
  3. Remove patties to prepare the gravy.
  4. Cook onions, then add flour to make a roux.
  5. Add broth and Worcestershire sauce, simmer to thicken.
  6. Return patties to pan and cook through.

Notes

Serve hot with mashed potatoes, rice, or steamed vegetables. A sprinkle of fresh parsley adds color and flavor. Don’t overwork the ground beef to prevent tough patties.
